Can I remain anonymous if I need to?
Yes you can. I understand that for a few of you, your positions might be such that you are in the public eye or your work is of a highly sensitive nature. You must sign up using your actual name and credit card information, but that is for administrative use only. On the community site, when you set up your profile, you have the option to use either your first name only or an alias and check the box, ‘anonymous’. You can participate on the live calls each month, by keeping your video off and using the name you have chosen. This way you can benefit fully from what this community program has to offer, improving your quality of life in recovery, while knowing your identity will remain private.
Do I have to be clean and/or sober to join?
Yes, you must have made a decision to remain abstinent from your drug of choice, whether that is alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling or another compulsive behaviour that you have lost some control over.
Do I have to be in a 12-step group to join the community?
No, you do not. It is not a requirement, although participation in a 12-step recovery support group would be an advantage and would supplement your recovery work in the community.
Will this require a lot of time?
No, it will require a small investment of your time, that you will reap the rewards for immediately. All the assignments, checklists, downloads, videos have been designed to be easy to complete in 30-60 minutes. Some take only a few minutes and some are a little longer. I hope you will commit at least 1 hour a week to your assignments and jump on the live calls twice a month. All the work has been laid out for your ease, so that each one builds on the other. Each level, once completed, provides a stable foundation on which to build the next level. You can start an exercise and if not completed, pick it up the next time you are free. This is self-paced and you will get back what you put in. So, apply yourself, but do not drive yourself. It is not a race but rather a new way of life.
Can I work at my own pace?
Yes, this is totally self-paced. You can do as little or as much as you want in any given week. In fact, I’m sure there will be weeks when life gets in the way, and you don’t do much. Then there will be weeks when you are on a roll and knock off a few assignments in a row. As long as you keep going and stay connected to the group, you will progress and experience the positive changes.
